What Are The Potential Side Effects Of  JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?

The most common side effects included temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness,lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. Side effects were mild or moderate (uncomfortable) and generally lasted 30 days or less.

How Does JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC Work?

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is a crystal-clear gel that is injected directly into and around the lips using an ultra-fine needle to temporarily plump the lips for lip augmentation and to smooth the appearance of lines around the mouth. The lidocaine gel improves the comfort of the injection by reducing sensitivity to pain.

Are There Any Reasons Why I Should Not Receive JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC Injectable Gel?

People with a history of multiple, severe allergies or anaphylactic reactions should not use JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA™ XC, as it contains lidocaine and Gram-positive bacterial proteins.

What Precautions Should My Doctor Advise Me About?

• Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as the safety of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC in such circumstances has not been studied.
• JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC has not been tested for safety in patients below 22 years of age.
• The efficacy and safety of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC for sites other than the lips and the area around them have not been demonstrated in controlled clinical trials.
• Inform your doctor if there is a history of significant scarring (e.g., hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation) or an issue with skin pigmentation, as the use of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC may trigger further scarring or discoloration.
• Inform your physician if you are planning to undergo other laser procedures or a chemical peel as there is a possibility of inflammation at the treatment site if these techniques are conducted post-treatment.
• Inform your physician if you are on immunosuppressant therapy to reduce the body's immune system, as JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC may lead to an enhanced risk of infection.
• Alert your physician if you take medications known to increase bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or anticoagulants, as this may cause additional bruising or bleeding at the injection area.
• In the early stages post-procedure, avoid strenuous exercise, direct sunlight or overheating, and alcohol consumption.
