What Is Restylane® Refyne?

As the skin's elasticity decreases with age, the nasolabial folds running from the sides of the nose to the mouth's corners and marionette lines running from the mouth's corners to the chin become more visible. Restylane Refyne is an advanced hyaluronic acid filler featuring XpresHAn Technology™ created to diminish these lines for a more natural-looking face.3† The gel's unique cross-linking in Restylane Refyne also helps preserve facial movements when smiling, frowning, or puckering up.

Are There Any Reasons Why I Should Not Use Products Within The Restylane® Family? (Contraindications)

In order to guarantee safety, your healthcare professional will review your medical history to make sure you are a suitable recipient for treatment. You should not use products from the Restylane family if:

• You possess a history of serious, anaphylactic allergic reactions.
• You may experience an allergic reaction to lidocaine or to the proteins derived from gram-positive bacteria used in hyaluronic acid production.
• You may be at risk for bleeding or have a diagnosed bleeding disorder.
• Inform your healthcare provider if you are expecting, nursing, or considering a pregnancy. The safety of these treatments in expecting or breastfeeding women has yet to be evaluated.
• Restylane, Restylane-L, Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine, Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne are approved to address signs of aging in the face, including nasolabial folds and lip enhancement. No other facial areas have been evaluated in clinical studies.
• No clinical studies exist to assess the safety and efficacy of Restylane® Silk for areas outside the lips and perioral region.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any prior scarring, especially if they are large and rigid, or any skin discoloration issues. Such reactions can be associated with the use of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.
• Inform your doctor if you intend to undergo other laser treatments or a chemical peel post-treatment, as there is potential for inflammation at the treatment site.
• Patients with skin injury in the area of Restylane® Refyne injection may have an increased probability of adverse reactions.
• Inform your healthcare provider of any immunosuppressive medicines being taken, because their use may raise the risk of developing contusions or bleeding at the site of the gel injection.
• Inform your physician if you are taking any anticoagulant medications, such as aspirin or warfarin, as these could heighten your risk of bruising or bleeding where Restylane Refyne is injected.
• These products should not be used at gel injection sites that have sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infections until complete healing occurs. Application at these sites could impede healing and aggravate existing skin issues.

What Are The Possible Side Effects?

The most commonly observed side effects after using Restylane® Refyne are swelling, redness, pain, bruising, headache, tenderness, lump formation, and itching at the injection site. These effects are mild in most cases and usually resolve within a week for nasolabial folds and two weeks for lips. Uncommon but serious complications include delayed onset infections, recurrence of herpetic eruptions, and skin necrosis at the injection site. There is also a risk of unintentional injection into a blood vessel, the chance of which is very low. However, if this happens, the consequences may be severe and permanent, such as vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, scabs, or scarring.

As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
